Juilliard String Quartet (JSQ) draws on a deep engagement with the classics while vibrantly championing new works. Founded in 1946, the ensemble brings profound commitment and unceasing curiosity to the string quartet literature. The JSQ honors its rich legacy with
Letters to Ludwig, a multi-year commissioning project inviting living composers to engage with Beethoven’s late quartets. As the string quartet in residence at The Juilliard School in New York City, its current members—Areta Zhulla, Leonard Fu, Molly Carr, and Astrid Schween—are all highly sought-after educators. The quartet boasts a celebrated, Grammy Award-winning discography, and in 2011, they became the first classical music ensemble to receive a lifetime achievement award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
