The Czech Nonet was founded in 1924 at the Prague Conservatory. In its long history, the Czech Nonet has inspired many new compositions, including some by Americans. The instrumentation (violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn) provides an almost inexhaustible supply of color combinations, and its full sound is effectively that of a chamber orchestra.
